Arts and Culture

McGruder Social Practice Artist Residency

Tuesday evenings

Provides arts and culture training and community projects to help solve community issues within North Nashville

 

Children and Youth

Girl Scouts Troop 6000

Events and Programs

 Offers leadership development for girls centered around STEAM, the outdoors, development of life skills and entrepreneurship. All Troop 6000 membership dues, uniforms and programming are provided

Nashville Public Library Studio

Summer Break

Working with library staff and Studio Mentors, teen patrons use innovative technology tools to produce music and podcasts, photographs and films, 3D-printed designs, paper Circuits, E-Textiles, soldering, robotics, and more

Opportunity Now

Monday-Thursday 4:00p-6:00p

Opportunity NOW is a coordinated initiative to provide young people in Davidson County access to employment.

Preston Taylor Ministries

Tuesdays and Thursdays

Provides free phones to individuals who qualify based on federal or state-specific eligibility criteria. You may qualify if you are on certain public assistance programs, like Medicaid or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). You can also qualify based on your household income.

Family and Adult Services

Assurance Wireless

Tuesdays and Thursdays

Provides guidance and support to parents of school age children to help navigate student issues, etc.

Family Empowerment Program

Mondays and Thursdays

Case management for families with children, focused on achieving housing, education, career and health goals.

Fatherhood Training

Monthly 3 day Training

Monthly fatherhood training recognized by the court system for men in the Nashville area.

Free Hearts

Monday-Friday

Education, workforce development, support, and advocacy for formally incarcerated mothers and their families; free legal advice in collaboration with the Public Defender’s Office; Parenting Classes offered recognized by court system.

Living At Home

Referrals and Scheduled Appointments

Provides support to older adults who struggle with day-to-day obstacles (social and financial)

Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center

Assists individuals and families with insurance enrollment

Mid-Cumberland Childcare Resource and Referral

Mondays Only 9a-12p

Provides training and resources to parents, child care professionals, and others who support quality childcare and development

MoreComputing

Fall and Spring 6 week courses

Provides basic computer skills training to strengthen the development of individuals by helping them to attain technological skills necessary to be self-sufficient in the workplace

Nashville Food Project

Thursdays and Saturdays

Oversees the community garden at McGruder FRC and encourages community residents to participate in the gardening experience and eat healthier

Nashville Public Library

Special Events and Programs

Provides digital literacy, technology training, and online library resources, etc. to adults and seniors in the community

New Beginnings

Tuesdays and Thursdays 12p-1p

A free outreach wellness and exercise program targeted toward women

North Nashville Outreach

Monday-Thursday 8:30a-12p; Scheduled Appointments

Provides Case management, Financial Assistance, Financial Literacy, Food and Diaper Assistance to residents living in zip codes 37208, 37218, 37209, 37228, and the northern portion of 37203

Training program for adults 18 and older interested in Hospitality and Hotel Industry Careers

National Council on Aging

Provides employment and employment resources to adults 55 and older

Sewing Training Academy

Fall and Spring Courses, Specialty and Recreational Courses

Trains individuals in Sewing Production, Personal Growth, Trade

Entrepreneurship Training

Corner to Corner Business Entrepreneurship Academy

Fall and Spring 10 week Classes

Provides entrepreneurship training 101 to adults and college age students within Nashville

Pathway Women’s Business Center

Fall and Spring Classes

Provides in-depth business counseling, classroom training, and peer-to-peer learning to help entrepreneurs
